Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre’s soloists again participated in a festival of music and theatre «Novoe Peredvizhnichestvo» that was initiated in December, 2006. That years the soloists performed in the Penza and Ekaterinburg regions. This time the billboards featured Krasnoyarsk – on the 10th of December and Zelenogorsk – on the 13th of December. The «Novoe Peredvizhnichestvo» is an unprecedented educational and artistic programme for the Russian towns of the atomic branch. Its name itself is related to Peredvizhniki, the Wanderers of art and their mission of delivering cultural values to those people who live at a distance from big cities but strive to arts. Russian naukograds – scientific towns are inhabited by techically educated intelligentsia, who have found themselves in a sort of cultural vacuum. «Novoe Peredvizhnichestvo» creates a new cultural space, supported by the Ministry for Culture and the Federal Atomic Energy Agency.
The recent production of the Centre – «Eugene Onegin» was greeted with ovation by the audience in Krasnoyarsk and Zelenogorsk. Critics have admitted that the production unites in itself a respectful attitude to the classical traditions, an ability to read into the musical and literature material and a modern scenography. The soloists were accompanied by the Krasnoyarsk Symphonic Orchestra from the State Theatre of Opera and Ballet conducted by Yaroslav Tkalenko – condicting director of the production. Another feature of the festival was Peter Glubokiy’s master classes for the students of the Krasnoyarsk State Academy of Music and Theatre. In a new season the cooperation between the Opera Centre and «Novoe Peredvizhnichestvo» will also continue.
