September 5th – Moscow City Award in Literature and Art was presented to Olga Rostropovich in a White Chamber of the Moscow City Hall.
The Moscow City Award in Literature and Art was established by the city mayor in year 1992 and is presented annually on the City’s Day eve. More than 650 people have become the award laureates in music, theatre, painting, architecture, literature and other arts nominations in the past 12 years.
Olga Rostropovich, the Artistic Director of the Opera Centre has won this award for establishing and carrying out the International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival in Moscow. This year the award has been handed to 25 masters of Russian culture including Ilza Liepa, Liya Akhedzhakova, Valentin Gaft, Leonid Heifetz, and Sergei Ursulyak.
