On November 26 and 28 Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre celebrated its first good round figure with the Gala concerts “Opera Viva!”. On the one hand, five years seem to have flown by imperceptibly. However it is not true about the events that have taken place in the Centre: every one attracted both professionals’ and public’s attention. Eight opera productions, numerous concerts, tours, festivals, more than a hundred graduates, many of which already adorn theatre stages in Russia and abroad; but for all that they do not forget their alma mater and perform regularly here.
Its fifth anniversary the Centre celebrates throughout the whole today’s season. To this event a new premiere – P. Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” – is dedicated, as well as the forthcoming December performances of “Rigoletto”; on December 15, together with the soloists of the Centre, European stars will take part in it – Boris Statsenko, baritone, and Stefano Rabaglia, conductor.
Succession and traditions have always been the proud and the basis for the Russian culture. After years and decades the soloists of the Centre will become true actors and, in their turn, will bring up new talents handing them down the very best that Galina Vishnevskaya and other teachers have taught them.
