On June 18 in Omsk within the framework of the First Russian Festival “The Panorama of musical theatres” there was presented with great success the latest production of the Opera Centre – “Iolanta” by Tchaikovsky.
The aim of the new festival is to demonstrate the achievements of the Russian musical theatre in all genres: modern and classical opera, ballet, operetta, musical, children’s performance. It is also aimed at answering the question what the life of musical theatre in Russia is like nowadays and at sharing the experience as well.
In the playbill of the festival, there are such theatres as State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, “Arena di Verona” (Italy), State Academic Central Puppet Theatre after S. Obraztsov, National Opera and Ballet Theatre after K. Baiseitovoi (Kazakhstan), Perm State Academic Opera and Ballet after P. Tchaikovsky, Ekaterinburg State Academic Theatre of Musical Comedy, Kaliningrad Regional Musical “Theatre in Basseinaya str.”.
The festival in Omsk gathered bright performers and has already become one of the biggest events in the musical life in Russia, – Galina Vishnevskaya was quoted as saying (she has become the guest of honor at this theatrical forum). – I hope that following Omsk governor Leonid Polezhaev there will appear another head of a region who will hold next festival.”
