On April 2nd and 12th the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre held concerts dedicated to Sergey Rakhmaninov’s 130th birthday, featuring the soloists of the Centre and the Mstislav Rostropovich’s Fund scholars. The most famous musicians throughout their artistic lives keep going back to heritage of the great Russian composer, the pianist, the conductor, and transfer this worship to their pupils. Program of the cycle “Dedication to Sergey Rahmaninov” consists of compositions from Galina Vishnevskaya’s and Mstislav Rostropovich’s repertoire – scenes from operas “Aleko” and “Franchesca da Rimini”, romances, instrumental compositions. The concerts also featured fragments from the “golden” fund of sound recordings, capturing performances of Galina Vishnevskaya, Mstislav Rostropovich and Vladimir Gorovitz.
