Kasianov Alexander

Alexander was born in Moscow.

He has graduated from the Gnesin State School of Music, Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS/RATA), and took post-graduate course at the Department of Vocal Art at RATA.

In 2003 he entered the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre, where he made his debut in the role of Grigory Gryaznoy in The Tsar’s Bride opera by Rimsky-Korsakov. He has also performed as Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Shchelkalov in Musorgsky’s Boris Godunov, as well as took part in numerous concerts.

He’s been a soloist at the Opera Centre since 2005.

He participated in the ‘Festival of Russian Culture in South Africa’, the International Art Festival ‘War and Peace’ (Sevastopol), ‘The Peoples’ War Begings…’ international project, dedicated to the 65th victory anniversary in World War II, the International Mstislav Rostropovich Festivals in Baku and Moscow, Spazio Musica Festival in Orvieto (Italy), III International Festival ‘Peregrinos Musicales’ (Santiago de Compostela, Spain).

Since 2014 he’s been a guest soloist at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, where he has made his debut as Gryaznoy in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride.

He took part in the Bolshoi Theatre tour to Vienna (Theater an der Wien), New York (Avery Fisher Hall) and Hong Kong (Hong Kong Cultural Centre) the same year, performing the role of Gryaznoy in a concert performance of the The Tsar’s Bride conducted by Gennady Rozhdestvensky.

Then he sang the roles of Schaunard (La Boheme by Puccini), Tomsky (Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades), Ibn-Hakia (Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta), Police inspector (Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District by Shostakovich) at the Bolshoi.

He has toured in Italy, France, Germany, Slovakia, Serbia, Poland, Czech Republic, Belgium, Mexico, the USA, South Africa.

His repertoire includes: Grigory Gryaznoy (Rimsky-Korsakov, The Tsar’s Bride), Schaunard (Puccini, La boheme), Escamillo (Bizet, Carmen), Tomsky (Tchaikovsky, The Queen of Spades), Onegin (Tchaikovsky Eugene Onegin), Robert, Ibn-Hakia (Tchaikovsky, Iolanta), Shchelkalov (Musorgvsky, Boris Godunov), Renato (Verdi, Un ballo in maschera), Valentin (Gounod, Faust), Germont (Verdi, La traviata), Silvio, Tonio (Leoncavallo, Pagliacci), Count di Luna (Verdi, Il trovatore), Macbeth (Verdi, Macbeth), Scarpia (Puccini, Tosca), Iago (Verdi, Othello), Prince Igor (Borodin, Prince Igor).

Alexander is the I prize-winner of the Young Russian Romance Singers International Competition ‘Romansiada’ (Moscow, 2002) and is the I prize-winner of the International Competition ‘Musica classica’ (Ruza, 2013).
