Elena Zaremba was born in Moscow.
She graduated from the Gnessins State Musical Pedagogical Institute.
In 1984-1995 she was a soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre, where she performed the roles of Marta (Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta), Lola (Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana), Amaranth (Paisiello’s The Beautiful Miller Maid), Vanya (Glinka’s Ivan Susanin), Olga (Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin), Amelfa (Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Golden Cockerel) Konchakovna (Borodin’s Prince Igor) and others. In June 2011 Elena performed as Naina in the Ruslan and Ludmila premiere by Glinka.
Her extensive repertoire includes – Azucena (Verdi’s Il Trovatore”), Ulrika (Verdi’s A Masked Ball), Delilah (Samson and Delilah by Saint-Saens), Olga (Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin), Carmen (Bizet’s Carmen), Anna (Berlioz Les Troyens), the blind (Ponchielli’s Mona Lisa), Mrs. Quickly (Verdi’s Falstaff), and many other parts. Elena Zaremba also performs Wagner repertoire.
In 1999 she participated in the performance of the whole Wagner’s tetralogy Der Ring des Nibelungen at the San Francisco Opera.
Elena performs on the world’s major venues: Covent Garden, Paris State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna Opera House, theaters of Lisbon, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Brussels, San Francisco, Tel Aviv. She has also collaborated with such distinguished conductors as Claudio Abbado, James Conlon, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Vladimir Jurowski, James Levine, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Giuseppe Sinopoli and with such directors as Francesca Zambello, Franco Zeffirelli, Willy Decker, Lev Dodin, and Robert Wilson.
