The third stage of the “Young Opera Singers Sessions” conceived by Galina Vishnevskaya and by Placido Domingo during their work in a Jury on the Operalia World Competition in year 2011 has finished at Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centrre. The “Sessions” are an artistic lab of some sort, which gathers young opera artists of the various schools and providing splendid opportunities for the professional growth. This time Moscow has gathered the representatives of the vocal schools of three countries at once: Russia is represented by the Opera Centre students and teachers, Austria – by the JET youth program under Theater an der Wien, USA – by Placido Domingo young artist program under the LA Opera.
On June 17 the master classes were successfully held by Sebastian Schwarz – the leader of the JET youth program and by the leading coach of the Domingo’s Academy – Nino Sanikidze. On June 18, those chosen by the tutors performed in a joint concert: Alexander Aliev, Evgeniya Bondar, Tatiana Makarchuk, Irina Polivinkina, Ruslan Rozyev (the Opera Centre); Joshua Guerrero, D’Ana Lombard, Hae Ji Chang (Domingo’s Academy), Igor Bakan, Benjamin Connor, Gaia Petrone, Anna Sarra (JET).
On June 19 maestro Eugene Kohn, the famous conductor and coach, joined Nino Sanikidze and Sebastian Schwarz in a master class. Eugene Kohn is actively in touch with the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre in recent years.
In total, 18 singers took part in master classes and the concert, and those were attended by more than 500 students of music high schools and artists of the music theaters.
The “Young Opera Singers Sessions project” is implemented by the Opera Centre with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture, Moscow City Department for Culture, and the U.S. Embassy in Russia.
