On May 16, Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre hosted a concert-lecture “A Journey Through Musical Epochs» featuring the scholars of the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation and soloists of the Opera Centre. Young musicians performed music works by Sergei Prokofiev, Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Christian Bach and other composers, accompanied by the Opera Centre’s orchestra under the baton of Dana Murieva – one of the few female conductors in the world who also holds the scholarship of the Foundation.
The event was carried out as a part of the socially-oriented project “The Magic World of Music”, which is being implemented by the Rostropovich Foundation for Cultural and Humanitarian Programs since December 2016 with the support of the Moscow City Public Relations Committee. The mission of this program is to support musically gifted children, to foster interest in professional skills development and improving performing skills in them. That is why it is very important that the event has been attended not only by elderly art-lovers, but by young listeners as well, in particular, by those who make their first steps in the world of music. The audience has not only listened attentively to the young performers, but empathized with them and supported them sincerely.
The performance of each musician was preceded by a short historical excursus: Elena Savelyeva – Professor, Honored Artist of Russia – told the audience of different musical genres, about works, as well as about the composers who created them. This component of the concert has contributed an educational shade and made the audience listen with even more interest.
