One of the most noticeable events of this season took place in Galina Vishnevskaya opera centre.
Artistic director of the Opera Centre, national artist of the USSR, Galina Vishnevskaya took celebration on the occasion of sixty anniversary of her creative work. Being quite young singer she made her debut on the stage of Operetta Theater in Leningrad and afterwards there were no one great world stage, where the great singer didn’t has a success.
In Boris Pokrovsky time, the outstanding director said about Galina Vishnevskaya: “somebody from above sent us beautiful, intelligent, energetic woman with dramatic gift, spirits, natural stage sense and with a bold truth coming from lips”… The name of the great singer became symbol a long ago and her work is unsurpassed example of service to art and society.
Galina Vishnevskaya only friends and admirers visited that jubilee evening – culture workers, political and business elite, and representatives of diplomatic corps. Among honorable guests: Culture Councilor of the Russian Federation President, Mr. U.K. Laptev; the Vice-Mayor of Moscow, Mr. U.V. Roslyak; the Minister of Culture and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, Mr. A.S. Sokolov; Galina Vishnevskaya friend and teacher, Boris Alexandrovich Pokrovsky and Irina Maslennikova; the principal conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre, Alexander Vedernikov; the main director of the Gelicon-Opera Theatre, Dmitry Bertman; the main director of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovitch-Danchenko Musical Theatre, Alexander Titel; President of the English Club in Moscow, Oleg Matveev; the chairman of trustee board of Social and Cultural Fund “Hennessey”, Mr. Alen Corniber, the Fund director, Ms. Tatiana Shirkina, the Fund Councilor, Mr. Joel Lamber who presented a Special Grant of $10 000 for development of Opera Centre.
Performances of Galina Vishnevskaya apprentices accompanied by State Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ponkin as well as musical greetings from Moscow theatres created a real festive air.
Galina Vishnevskaya was rewarded with Order of Peter the Great by Ministry of Internal Affairs Academy and Order of Saint Ravnoapostolnoi princess Olga of Russian Orthodox Church for the services to native land and contribution to Russian art.
