Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre celebrates its twentieth anniversary this theatre season 2022/2023

1 October 2022

Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre celebrates its twentieth anniversary this theatre season 2022/2023. Galina Vishnevskaya’s dream of having her own opera school in Russia came true 20 years ago – and a training and theater center appeared in Moscow. In the years that have passed since its opening, the Center has taken a prominent place in the cultural landscape of Moscow: thirteen opera productions have been staged, numerous concerts and tours have taken place in Russia and abroad. Many Opera Centre’s soloists have become famous opera artists and some of them, in turn, have come back to the Centre to educate new talents, to convey all the best that Galina Vishnevskaya had taught them. These are the soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Oleg Dolgov and the soloist of the Helikon-Opera Music Theater Alexei Tikhomirov.

A number of events will be dedicated to the Centre’s 20th anniversary during the season. On October 1st, the first festive concert of this series took place. It featured the Centre’s soloists and orchestra. Arias, duets and ensembles from operas by Russian and foreign composers were performed. Yaroslav Tkalenko, who has been working at the Centre since its foundation, stood at the conductor’s podium. The concert was accompanied by video projections, graduates’ pictures on the screen, moments in students’ life – lessons, fragments of performances recordings, and the beautiful Galina Vishnevskaya’s face, proudly looking at her students.

This day, the devoted Centre’s public gathered in the cozy and elegant hall, it came to congratulate their favorites on their anniversary and thanked them for a wonderful concert with unceasing applause.
