The new theatre season of Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre was opened by the wide-ranging tour with guest performances “Rigoletto” by G. Verdi and “Carmen” by G. Bizet in Mexico.
The tour lasted from the 18th of September till the 8th of October in seven cultural centres of the country: Monterray, Guadalajara, Mexico City and the others. Opera Centre makes a lot of tours and guest performances all over the world, but this one was the first in Latin America, moreover, the performances of the Opera Centre’s participated the programme of the great international music festivals, which took place in Mexico during that time: «el Festival International of Chihuahua», «el Festival International of Coahulia», «Festival International of Nuevo Leon Conarte». Along with the soloists of the Opera Centre Boris Statsenko, the soloist of the Bolshoy Theatre, one the most famous and brilliant baritones all over the world, participated the tour as Rigoletto.
Since the Mexican tour has been finished the company of the Opera Centre got down to the last period of the rehearsal of “Marriage and other Horrors”, dedicated to N. Gogol two hundredth anniversary.
