Artistic workshop by M˚ Fabrizio Cassi

Fabrizio Cassi, an Italian conductor, gave a series of vocal masterclasses at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre during February 9 – 13.

Maestro Cassi has graduated from the Giuseppe Nicolini Conservatory of Piacenza in organ and piano (maestro still performs organ concerts in Italy) and Arrigo Boito Conservatory of Music (Parma) in composition and conducting. Fabrizio Cassi is an acknowledged expert in Verdi’s music. He has collaborated with many famous opera singers, as well as with the Arturo Toscanini Foundation in Parma on a continuous basis. In 2001, he held a Gala on the occasion of the Giuseppe Verdi’s restored organ inauguration in Busseto (the composer’s hometown). In 2006, he conducted a premiere of Verdi’s La Traviata at the Verdi Theater in Fiorenzuola d’Arda in province of Piacenza.

Fabrizio Cassi has honed the skills of the Opera Centre’s students on Italian composers’ works, including arias and scenes from the Centre’s productions: Rigoletto by Verdi, Pagliacci by Leoncavallo and La Boheme by Puccini.
