May 17th is marked 50 years as at the Bolshoi theatre performed for the first time Makvala Kasrashvili – Professor at the Opera Centre, a brilliant soprano, a student, scene partner and a great friend of Galina Vishnevskaya. For many years, Galina Pavlovna admired the talent and personality of Makvala Kasrashvili, not just with love remembering the years spent at Bolshoi, where they worked together under the leadership of the great Opera Director Boris Pokrovsky. Unsurpassed Tatiana, Natasha Rostova, Lisa, Aida, Amneris, Turandot, Tosca – a repertoire of Makvala Kasrashvili includes nearly all the central Opera parts. For half a century she enjoyed the applause of Paris and New York, London and Vienna, Prague and Budapest and, of course, Moscow and St. Petersburg…

In the Opera Centre Makvala Filimonovna teaches for over three years and during this time she has brought to the stage many talented young singers. Yhat was clearly demonstrated during the concert from the series “Master and students” on April 18th.

Dear Makvala The Filimonivna! The entire staff of the Centre together with the Artistic Director Olga Rostropovich  congratulates You with a wonderful birthday!

Many happy years!
