The Russian Romance program featured love songs by P. Tchaikovsky and S. Rakhmaninoff, among them the much-loved In Broad Daylight, I Opened the Window and Please, Do Not Sing My Bonnie Lass.The proud holder of the World s Best Singer and The King of Russian Vocals titles, Dmitry Khvorostovsky was joined on stage by pianist Mikhail Arkadyev with whom he has regularly played the past ten years. Also in attendance that night were such top-flight celebrities as Giya Kancheli and Ilze Lijepa and a host of political, public and business leaders. Dmitry Khvorostovsky dedicated his performance to the memory of the victims of the recent hostage crisis in Moscow.
