September 29, the Central House of Architects – an open competition to create a monument to Galina Vishnevskaya completed. It has been held on the initiative of the Opera Centre by the Moscow Union of Architects, with the support of the Ministry of Culture. Competition is a part of the celebration events dedicated to the 90th birthday anniversary of the great singer. Russian architects and sculptors, both, well-known masters and young artists, have taken part.
Honorable mission to announce the winner of the competition was given to the Artistic Director of the Centre – Olga Rostropovich, who has congratulated and thanked all the participants. The winner is – People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Rukavishnikov, who has previously created a monument to Mstislav Rostropovich. “He managed to create a musical image made of marble and metal,” – said Olga Rostropovich in an interview to Kultura TV-channel – “The image is very musical, versatile, I see lots of symbols in it.”
The monument to Galina Vishnevskaya will be installed in Moscow, on Ostozhenka street, near the Opera Centre.
