On the 21st of April the Opera Centre has opened The Second International Art Festival “Russian Music in Baltic” in Kaliningrad with its new performance “Eugeny Onegin” by P. Tchaikovsky. Soloists of the Centre have performed with the Klaipeda Musical Theatre under direction of Ilmars Lapinsch. The organizers of the festival are the Regional Kaliningrad Philharmonic, the Federal agency for Culture and Cinematography, Kaliningrad Region Government, Ministry of culture of the Kaliningrad Region.

This musical event is a series of concerts and performances by Russian and Baltic region countries’ art masters. Such soloists and ensembles as Count Murzha, Alexander Sitkovetskiy, Deutsche Opera “Classic” Chamber Orchestra (Berlin), “New Opera” theatre, choir of the Stockholm Royal Theatre (Sweden).

Galina Vishnevskaya was the honorable guest of the festival and said the following words during her greeting: “In summer 1945 I have performed for our soldiers in German Koningsberg. That time the city has lied in ruins and has made a terrible impression. Many years have passed and Koningsberg is now Russian Kaliningrad. I am happy that the musical culture flourishes here and international festivals are held”.

The Opera Centre tour took place supported by the Moscow Government and Moscow Department of Culture.
