On September 2nd, 11 am, the Opera Centre held a troupe gathering dedicated to the start of a new, twelfth, concert season.
Olga Rostropovich, the Artistic Director, had announced the artistic and learning plans for the forthcoming season, and has presented the tutors to the students. Establishing the Centre’s own orchestra, the one which Galina Vishnevskaya had dreamed of, was named the main event of the season. That is why, the 2013/2014 season will be opened on October 2nd with the presentation of the new ensemble featured by the best Centre’s soloists and soloists of the orchestra.
The major event of the nearest future is undoubtably Glinka’s opera ‘Ruslan and Lyudmila’, which is going to receive it’s premiere. «Mom loved this opera. She had chosen it to be the first to stage at the Opera Centre in year 2003. But that time it was a half-concert version with costumes. This time we are producing a full-scale performance. I’d like so much that our ‘Ruslan’ becomes spectacle, bringing delight to people, who belong to different generations: from grand-moms and grand-pas, to moms and dads, and children and grand-children… so that it becomes a family event» – told Olga Rostropovich to the reporters. The premiere night will be on October 25, on Galina Vishnevskaya’s birthday.
Future artistic plans of the Centre include: performances, gala concerts, tours to Russian cities and abroad, and other projects, – Young Opera Singers Assemblies, in particular. The latter are held by the Opera Centre in collaboration with Young Artists Academies for 3 years already. V International Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Singers Competition, which is to take place from May 31 till June 5 and ‘Pagliacci’ opera (by Leoncavallo) premiere on June 30, will conclude the season.
