Festival of Russian Culture in Bulgaria

The tour of the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre took place in Sofia, Varna and Russe from 1st till 6th of July in the framework of the large-scale program “Festival of the Russian Culture in Bulgaria”.
On the January 17th 2008 the solemn opening of the Year of Russia in Bulgaria took place which is the framework for the festival. During this year the State Academic Symphony Russiam Orchestra named after Svetlanov, State Academic choreographic ensemble “Beryozka”, Helicon-Opera Theatre, State Academic Bolshoi Theatre, MAT named after Chekhov, “Sovremennik” Theatre, “Petr Fomenko Workshop” will perform in Bulgaria. There will also be organized th weeks of contemporary Russian cinema and artistic exhibitions.
Soloists of the Opera-Centre – Y. Baranov (baritone), N. Bobrova (soprano), O. Dolgov (tenor), M. Kuzmin-Karavaev (bass), O. Lesnichaya (soprano), A. Privoznova (soprano), K. Purilkin (baritone), A. Shakirova (mezzo-soprano), concertmasters – A. Basargina and A. Sitnikova have performed with the concerts in “Bulgaria” Hall (Sofia), Festival and Congress halls (Varna), and Theatre named after Savva Ognyanov (Russe). The opera fragments and chamber compositions by A. Borodin, N. Rimsky-Korsakov, S. Rakhmaninov, P. Tchaikovsky, M. Glinka, C. Gounod, G. Bizet, G. Puccini, W. Mozart have formed the concerts’ program. The Bulgarian audience gave a hearty welcome to the young singers and each performance has been followed by the applause.
Soloists of the Centre Oxana Lesnichaya and Oleg Dolgov have also given a master-class to the students of the vocal department of the National Musical college named after Lyubomir Pipkov.
