Sergey Polyakov was born in Moscow and graduated in 2005 from the Russian Academy of Theatrical Art as a music theatre artist.
During 2005-2007 he studied at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre, where he assumed the roles of Almeric in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Remendado in Bizet’s Carmen, Lensky and Triquet in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Lykov and Bomely in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride, Canio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, as well as he took part in a phantasmagorical performance The Marriage and Other Horrors.
Since year 2008 Polyakov has been a soloist at the Kolobov Novaya Opera in Moscow, where he has sung the parts of Bomely in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride, Rinuccio and Gerardo in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Shuisky in Boris Godunov, Eisenstein in Johann Strauss Jr.’s Die Fledermaus, Manrico in Verdi’s Il Trovatore, Boniface in Offenbach’s Dinner with Italians, Andrey Khovanskiy in Khovanshchina by Mussorgsky, Ismaele in Verdi’s Nabucco, Oronte in Verdi’s I Lombardi, Carlo VII in Verdi’s Joan of Arc, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni, and Radu in Zingari (The Gypsies) by Leoncavallo.
Sergey Polyakov has taken part in the May Opera Nights Festival in Macedonia (2006), International Mstislav Rostropovich Festivals in Baku (2011, 2015), Russian Music on the Baltic Festival in Kaliningrad (2008) and the Yury Bashmet Festival in Minsk (2009), Sakharov International Arts Festival in Nizhny Novgorod (2010) and VII International Festival Stars Parade in the Opera in Krasnoyarsk, 2016.
He sang the part of Grigory in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov at the Opera Royal de Wallonie in Liege, Belgium and at the Festival Internacional de Santander in Spain; he performed Calaf’s part in Puccini’s Turandot in Trondheim (Norway), as well as he participated in the III International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival in Moscow opening night as Sergey in Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District opera by Shostakovich (concert version).
Recent engagements include the parts of Manrico in Il Trovatore and Hermann in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades at the Mariinsky Theatre, Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut by Puccini and Macduff in Macbeth by Verdi at the Latvian National Opera, Manrico in Il Trovatore at the Vilnius City Opera, Radames in Aida and Carlo VII in the Joan of Arc, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana and Canio in Pagliacci at the Novaya Opera.
Sergey has toured to Mexico, Italy, France, Japan, Georgia.
He’s been admitted to the finals of the Placido Domingo’s Operalia Competition.
